The results of the 2006 Air Education and Training Command Flying Training awards have come in, and a member from Tyndall has walked away with one of them.

Skip Sanders, 325th Operations Support Squadron Air Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation functional director won the "AETC Flying Training Support Employee of the Year."

"Support Employee of the Year" is awarded to the person who contributes most to the training of combat pilots for AETC and the Air Force.

"This award is a tribute to Sanders' hard work and the success of his ACMI team," said Maj. David O'Malley, 325th Operations Support Squadron instructor pilot.

There are four awards presented annually throughout AETC for achievements in flying training. The awards are the Major General Glenn A. Profitt II Award, the Flight Commander of the Year, the Enlisted Instructor of the Year and the Support Employee of the Year.

Sanders directs the Air Combat Training System and the Link 16 Fighter Data Link Net for Tyndall flying squadrons.

"My job is to make our training better and to keep working to do so," said Sanders.

Sanders has been at Tyndall since July 1981 focusing his team's efforts on the mission, which is training fighter pilots and air battle managers.

"Skip is the Air Force's ACMI expert," said Major O'Malley. "We are lucky to have him at Tyndall."
