In coordination with Bay County officials, Tyndall Air Force Base officials have ordered the evacuation of all non-mission essential military and civilian personnel from the base due to Hurricane Michael. The evacuation order was effective beginning at 5 p.m. Monday, October 8. All personnel including those in Tyndall base housing must be off the installation no later than 3 p.m. Tuesday, October 9.

The status of the base and return-to-duty information will be posted on the Tyndall website at http://www.tyndall.af.mil/Hurricane/ and the Tyndall Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/325FWTyndall/.

The use of government-issued credit cards has been authorized by the 325th Fighter Wing commander for expenses incurred during this evacuation. Finance will reimburse members for an evacuation of at least 100, but no more than 500 miles, from Tyndall AFB.

The Florida Highway Patrol plans to close the DuPont Bridge when winds reach 40 miles per hour.

The base is providing transportation to base personnel and their families who need it.  Personnel should contact their UCC to be added to the passenger manifest and receive time and location details.

Those planning to use the available shelters, should bring with them all items recommended in the Tyndall Natural Disaster handbook.  Hurricane information and checklists are available on Tyndall’s website at http://www.tyndall.af.mil/Hurricane/.

There are no shelters at Tyndall AFB.
