Team Tyndall, our base took a beating, and i know you have a lot of questions. I will share with you information as fast as i can transmit it with our limited communication capabilities.

By now you already know that Tyndall Air Force Base requires extensive cleanup and repairs. I will not recall you and your families until we can guarantee your safety. At this time i can’t tell you how long that will take, but i’m on it. I know this is important to you.

We need to restore basic utilities, clear our roads of trees and power lines, and assess the structural integrity of our buildings. I know that you are eager to return. I ask you to be patient and try to focus on taking care of your families and each other. We can rebuild our base, but we can’t rebuild any of you.

I ask that you also keep in your thoughts and prayers tonight our friends and neighbors in our local community. Our area has never seen a storm like this one. We will rebuild together.

I know that many of you have questions for finance, such as what the Air Force will and will not reimburse. I encourage you to reach out to the finance office at the closest Air Force base to your current safe location. Every base has offered us their help; take them up on their offer.

V/R

Colonel Brian S. Laidlaw

Commander, 325th Fighter Wing
