Airmen, families encouraged to participate in sports, resiliency day Published March 7, 2013 325th Fighter Wing Public Affairs TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Tyndall will hold Sports and Resiliency Day beginning at 7 a.m. March 15 at the fitness center track with a 5K run for all military, followed by various sporting events comprised of teams from each squadron. Heritage Park will host lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Chief master sergeants from each group will cook hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill. "Sports Day is about more than just physical resiliency, there are many other benefits and opportunities," said Corey Coleman, 325th Fighter Wing community support coordinator. "It's a great time for people to really talk to their fellow Airmen. Get to know the people you work around daily - we need each other. It is also a much-needed break from the day-to-day, so folks should get involved. "Even if you don't participate in the sports you can cheer on your team and enjoy being outside." There will be an award ceremony at Heritage Park at 3:30 p.m. Individuals are not authorized prizes; awards are given to squadrons for first, second and third place. Volunteers are still needed to help facilitate events. Contact Mr. Lou South at 283-2631 to volunteer. It is an alternate duty location for civilians who want to participate, but is not mandatory.
