This year marks the 50th Anniversary for the Combined Federal Campaign.

Tyndall will begin its campaign season Oct. 11.

The CFC is the world's largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign, according to the CFC officials.

The mission of the CFC is to promote and support philanthropy through a program that is employee focused, cost-efficient, and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all, added officials.

"Each year the Combined Federal Campaign gives us the opportunity to give much needed support back to our local communities," said Brigadier Gen. John McMullen, 325th Fighter Wing commander. "This year the bar is set to reach 100 percent awareness and I am confident that Team Tyndall will again make a significant difference in the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves."

The CFC has helped raise nearly $7 billion since providing and expanding the range of donation options for federal employees in 1964.

President John F. Kennedy authorized the U.S. Civil Service Commission to develop guidelines to regulate fundraising in the federal service in 1961. It wasn't until 1964 when the first 'combined' campaigns were conducted. There were substantial results with an increase in contribution from 20 percent to 125 percent.

The campaigns are defined geographically along county lines. Bay County is just one of six counties that make up the Northwest Florida region.

Over the last five years, the local Northwest Florida region has averaged more than $370,000 per year in combined contributions.

"As you know, CFC is important to our communities and our Air Force," said General McMullen. "CFC is one way of showing how much we appreciate our community neighbors and provides us the opportunity to give back to those who support us every day. I encourage you to join me in making this year's CFC our best effort yet."

Tyndall will host a series of events over the course of the next month for all Tyndall Department of Defense employees to try to bring 100 percent awareness, as well as to help collect money for the Northwest Florida Region campaign.

This year's campaign runs through Nov. 18. For more information on the upcoming supporting events, contact 1st Lt. Lizeth Cameron at Lizeth.cameron@tyndall.af.mil or Senior Master Sgt. Martin Barr at martin.barr@tyndall.af.mil.
