Units from across the Air Force, as well as the Marine Corps will be evaluated on their capabilities to load, unload, maintain and fire live weapons during the Weapons System Evaluation Program-East 24.05, Feb. 12 – 23, 2024.

Media is invited to capture footage of the WSEP exercise and interview a member of Tyndall’s 95th Fighter Squadron Feb. 14.

The WSEP exercise is the Air Force’s joint event to formally evaluate air-to-air and air-to-ground live fire weapons employment for combat aviators. It affords pilots the chance to fire live rounds and launch live missiles at aerial and ground targets, while providing maintainers with the opportunity of loading live munitions onto their aircraft. Evaluating these capabilities accelerates readiness and postures the force for the future.

Tyndall AFB is strategically located along the Gulf Range Complex, which is one of few ranges in the U.S. large enough to support wide-ranging air combat training. Direct access to this range is essential for 5th-generation fighter readiness, 4th and 5th-generation fighter interoperability and for live-fire testing and training.

Media representatives interested in covering this event are asked to arrive at the Tyndall AFB visitors center no later than 12 p.m., Feb. 14, 2024, with proof of affiliation and photo identification. Please RSVP no later than close of business Feb. 12, 2024, by contacting the 325th Fighter Wing Public Affairs Media Team.
