It's not often these days that anyone can listen to live music performed by a band consisting entirely of aviation and intelligence specialists and ranging in leadership levels from the squadron commander to the student pilot, in the U.S. Air Force.

Enter Post Stall - a distinctive rock band so named for the F-22 Raptor's ability to maneuver after stalling in flight, an attribute unique to the jet. The band members are Brad "Tonto" Bird, Travis "Pinz" Koch, John "Zap" Bertieri, Jamie "Edward" Mun and Ryan "Sticks" Sivertsen. They are F-22 pilots and students and one intelligence officer assigned on Tyndall who were looking for a way to share their musical talents.

"We are all musicians in our own right and just decided to put our skills together and play," said Bird, the band's lead singer and guitar player. "Pilots and intel specialists actually make great music; flying and intel isn't the only thing we can do."

The band is known for playing across many different genres of music entertainment, such as songs by artists ranging from Nirvana to Jimmy Buffet.

"We usually bring in our own crowd - people just curious to hear us play," he said.

Post Stall has a variety of instruments such as drums, acoustic guitar, electric guitar and bass guitar.

"I've been playing drums since I was ten years old," said Sivertsen, one of the band's drummers. "When the opportunity came up to play again, I jumped at the chance to join."

The band plays at various venues, most often at The Runway, Lynn Haven Yacht Club, and right here on Tyndall at the Pelican Point Golf Course and Heritage Club. Post Stall typically plays three sets of ten songs per performance.

"We have so many requests for the band's performances that we can't even fill them all," said Bird. "It's great to know that people want to hear us play. We put a lot of hours into practice and we really enjoy what we do."

Band members agree playing music is a great way to de-stress after a long day at work and just have some fun.

"It's fun to rock out with your buddies," said Koch. "And even more so when the crowd is getting into it."

The band's next performance is 8 p.m., Oct. 27 at the Lynn Haven Yacht Club.
