    Tyndall to host first Industry Day in rebuild effort

    The Air Force will host the first industry day for the Tyndall Air Force Base rebuild at Florida State University, Panama City, Florida, on January 31, 2019, from 8:00 am-12:00 pm. This “state of the installation” presentation will inform the Air Force’s potential partners in industry and elected officials of the condition of Tyndall and the goal to develop an installation for a 21st Century Air Force.

    Force improvement led by junior Airman

    Upon graduating from college, she worked as an admissions counselor. However, she was looking for something bigger than herself, bigger than what she was used to. She wanted a more fulfilling career, something that made her feel like she was a part of a team. But after waiting nearly two years for a spot in a police academy, she decided to pursue other options. At the age of 24, her journey landed her in an Air Force recruiter’s office.

    Thunderbolts light up the sky during Checkered Flag 18-1

    The 366th Fighter Wing “Gunfighters” from Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, deployed assets to participate in the large-scale aerial exercise Checkered Flag 18-1 and Combat Archer, a Weapons System Evaluation Program at Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla., Nov. 6-17. The 366th FW sent approximately 240 operations and maintenance Airmen and 14 F-15E Strike Eagles from the 389th Fighter Squadron to train in real-world simulated scenarios for this two-week long exercise.

    Meet the Commander: Maj. James Johnson

    From Hispaniola, the Caribbean country of Haiti, to the Americas, one Airman turned leader never expected the huge impact the Air Force would have in his life nor did he expect the people he would encounter. U.S. Air Force Maj. James Johnson, the new commander of the 325th Communication Squadron, grew up in Haiti until age 12 and is no stranger to battling the socioeconomic challenges and elevated crime rates nearly synonymous with poverty stricken areas.

The U.S. military continued its endeavor to be an inclusive, equal opportunity organization as “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” was repealed, allowing lesbian, gay and bisexual members to serve openly.
